The waterfront home provides a unique experience for Cape Cod travelers. Those who appreciate art, design, and nature will find all they want at Cygnus House. No need to travel to Provincetown (although we always recommend a trip to P-Town) to find a vacation rental that will tickle your design and art fancy. Situated on the freshwater Oyster Pond, Cygnus House is nestled between downtown Falmouth and Woods Hole, known for its vibrant scientific community. With its clean lines, curated artwork and furniture, and zen-inspired spaces, the home and area encompass a Woods Hole vibe. Whether you're enjoying a quiet moment by the pond or exploring the local beaches (including nearby access to a private association beach), you'll find everything you need close to Cygnus House. The Space Over the past decade, the homeowners have lovingly reimagined and updated this extraordinary property into a one-of-a-kind retreat. Now, they are thrilled to offer this unique experience to others. As soon as you arrive, you'll be greeted by the coastal zen architecture and breathtaking views that set the tone for your stay. Art and design enthusiasts will immediately feel at home upon entering, where mid-century modern aesthetics blend seamlessly with a serene, zen-inspired atmosphere. The thoughtfully curated space, with its nods to the atomic age, offers a harmonious balance of timeless design and contemporary comfort—making it the perfect getaway for those who appreciate style and tranquility. This home offers three distinct levels, each designed to be enjoyed to the fullest by guests. Upon arrival, most guests will enter through the lower level, where they’ll discover a playful and versatile bonus room with views of Oyster Pond. This space serves both as an additional sleeping area with a futon bed tucked away, and a soothing meditation and exercise room, perfect for unwinding or staying active. The lower level also features a luxurious, spa-like bathroom, complete with a shower, steam shower, and an authentic Japanese ofuro soaking tub made of scented-Hinoki wood. The primary floor is located up a floating staircase. This floor features a large open space combining a great room, modern kitchen, and dining area, a screened in seasonal porch, deck, two bedrooms, and a full bath. The custom kitchen is fully-stocked and finished in stainless steel and Douglas Fir. It sports Viking cooking appliances (gas cooktop, electric oven, microwave) and a Sub-Zero refrigerator. Appliances available for use include coffee maker, blender, handmixer, stand mixer, food processor, electric kettle, rice cooker, and toaster. The great room is spacious and features original mid-century modern accent furniture and views of the pond, Along with unique artwork, design literature and more. The dining table seats eight guests. However, many guests may choose to lunch or have coffee on the screened in season room overlooking the landscape and Oyster Pond. There is a fanciful first floor bathroom with a stand up shower. The home’s secondary and third bedrooms are both located on the primary floor. The secondary bedroom includes a king bed, which can also be set up, on request, as two twin beds. -The third bedroom includes a four-poster full-sized bed. The third floor includes the primary bedroom, an office space/library, and spacious master bathroomThe primary bedroom includes a queen-sized bed, a small private deck. It boasts a stunning view of Oyster Pond. The library and office area provides a convenient workspace and includes a guest friendly Apple computer and a printer. The third-floor bathroom includes both a large bathtub and a separate two-person glass shower. Outside Description and Features: The landscape of the home is studded with beautiful flora. The backyard of the home faces Oyster Pond. It includes a stonehenge-esque firepit area overlooking the landscape and pond. The side of the home (with an entrance to the kitchen) includes a grilling area and a fun stone seating patio. A small dock for swimming, kayaks and paddleboards are provided for guests to use at their own risk. Fishing is also permissible if guests obtain a fishing license from the Town of Falmouth. As members of the Quissett Beach Association, the homeowners can provide guests with access to a members-only sandy beach on Vineyard Sound. The beach is a peaceful 10-15 minute walk (or a very short drive). There are six outdoor security cameras: A Ring doorbell at the main entrance on the primary floor (front door); An outward facing camera on the garage door opener; And 4 (four) tree mounted cameras – one for each entry point on the house (front door, rear door, garage, and kitchen/side door. The cameras take in outdoor activity in the vicinity of the doors. Many guests may choose to explore Falmouth, Woods Hole, and the rest of the Cape from Cygnus House’s central (yet quiet) location. Explore Woods Hole, Falmouth, and the Buzzards Bay shore line from the Shining Sea bike path (which can be accessed near NAME). Explore additional local beaches or head to the Outer-Cape for a different beach experience. Nearby Woods Hole offers delightful spots for coffee, meals, museums, fun/educational activities, and shopping—everything you need for a perfect day out. Downtown Falmouth and its shopping, dining, and nightlife attract tourists and locals alike. Mashpee Commons offers great shopping and dining options. Falmouth is a fantastic home base to explore the additional areas on Cape and the islands. The lowest level of the home can be used as a sleeping area (futon) and does include access to a stand-in shower (step up to enter). Additionally, the house is furnished with valuable artwork, mid-century modern furniture, and high-end appliances that are costly to replace. Parents may find it stressful to ensure safety and protect the furnishings, so we do not recommend this home for those traveling with younger children. NO PETS Policy: Unfortunately, we do not allow pets. Please ask ProHost® about boarding options in the area. Guest access: The entire home and yard are available to guests. There will be locked closets, cabinets, and other doors for areas guests do not require access. The private beach is accessible to guests.
